Introducing LAFE

Louisiana’s classrooms are filled with bright minds, big dreams, and boundless potential. Behind every student’s success is a dedicated teacher, and now more than ever, our state needs passionate, well-prepared educators who are ready to lead the next generation.

That’s where the Louisiana Association of Future Educators (LAFE) comes in.

LAFE is a statewide organization dedicated to cultivating and supporting aspiring educators from middle school through college. By providing career pathways, mentorship, professional networks, and leadership opportunities, LAFE is committed to strengthening Louisiana’s future teacher workforce and ensuring every student has access to excellent educators.

Why LAFE?

Across the country, schools are facing teacher shortages. Louisiana is no exception. By engaging students early, offering mentorship from current professionals, and providing meaningful leadership opportunities, LAFE helps build a pipeline of future teachers who are inspired, prepared, and ready to serve.

Through LAFE chapters, school clubs, and courses across Louisiana, students gain hands-on experience and professional development that introduce them to the possibilities of a career in education. Whether it’s observing in classrooms, competing in teaching-related events, or networking with peers and mentors, LAFE members are actively preparing for the future of education.

Opportunities for Students

Membership in LAFE opens the door to:

  • Professional networks connecting students across the state

  • Mentorship from current teachers and education leaders

  • College and career pathways in teaching and education-related fields

  • Leadership opportunities through local, regional, and state-level involvement

  • Conferences and competitions that showcase student skills and creativity

By participating in LAFE, students not only explore a rewarding career but also gain confidence, build friendships, and become advocates for education in their communities.
